WHAT HAVE THE AUTHORITY BEEN DOING?

(Pls click on to read )

LET THE BLIND SEE AND THE MUTE SPEAK

The Great Wall of Malaysia
Malaysiakini

More than a decade ago, when I was in Malaysia on assignment, I interviewed a senior official of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC). He was a policy wonk, who had been sent to Oxford University on a Mara scholarship. My first question to him was whether the whole MSC, the brainchild of Mahathir Mohamad, was just another one of the then premier's hair-brained schemes at shoring up Malaysian 'coming-of-age' grandiosity. He hung up. Guess he didn't like the tone of my questions.A short while later, he called back at the hotel I was staying after I had left his secretary a message to do so. He told me, adamantly, that the MSC was the next logical and necessary step in technologizing the Malaysian economy and creating a modern Malaysian society

I asked him if he was serious or merely turning on the spin. He said the Malaysian government was always serious about everything it says and does. I swear I could have died from laughter right there and then.I reminded him that Mahathir also once had said that he would usher in the scientification of the Malaysian economy. You know ... space and all that jazz. That it was part of his Wawasan 2020 plan. For nothing has come of that. So what likelihood, let alone imminence, of the Malaysian economy's technologization?Ten years later and it's clear that since the MSC was first mooted, no policy development work worth its name has been made to forge Malaysia into the future, much less in becoming the Southeast Asian hub of science and technology.Wawasan 2020 remains a half-baked concept, devoid of concrete, realistic and transparent policies. To convince anyone of the seriousness of intent by the Malaysian government of its project is akin to Japanese convincing foreigners that sushi is in fact cooked food. After all, earlier, there had been much fanfare about making Malaysia the regional financial hub. So Mahathir set up the Offshore Financial Centre - far away from prying Peninsular eyes, in Labuan. And to be sure, Labuan is a dead goose - another victim of Mahathir's follies. If the MSC was going to lift Malaysia's global competitiveness, it has failed - and miserably. So now, when news comes that the Najib government - which recently claimed that it will uphold the democratic rights of all Malaysians, ostensibly under the rubric of 1Malaysia's self-stylized ideology - is already reneging on its promises. No just Dr M deserves free speechThe MSC says its new boss Najib wants to filter Internet content in the country. It says it will clamp down on porn and other nefarious activities using the web. This is exactly what the Chinese government said too.

Mahathir, now a blogger, of whom his pitiable sycophants refer as 'ayahanda', says that the Najib regime should block porn sites, to which he refers as “filth”, but leave free political content unless it instigates violence.

Lest, of course, political dissenters want the regime's attack dogs unleashed upon them yet again. If you're intuitive enough, Mahathir syncs with Najib. Umno's supremacy rests upon the instrument of terror wielded through Internal Security Act and other anti-democracy legislation.Unlike other bloggers, Mahathir is deemed untouchable by a predominantly cowardly regime. Even Najib would not dare take on Mahathir directly. Which explains why he sent his deputy to 'tell' Mahathir about the government's decision to switch back to the Malay-language teaching of Mathematics and Science.Najib's mentor and patron is Mahathir. How many times has Mahathir lashed out at Najib since the latter took over from Abdullah? And how many times did Mahathir lash Abdullah? If Mahathir thinks it's his divine right to have the political freedom to write and criticise whomever he wants, then every other person in Malaysia should be entitled to the same right. Nobody ought to be or should be differentiated from this very same entitlement. But Mahathir is an all-time hypocrite. He's a hypocrite whenever he lashes out at the ultra Zionists within Israel's rightwing neo-nationalist faction vis-à-vis the Palestinians. But he hasn't lashed out at Utusan Malaysia for its fundamentally racist and spineless rants against the non-Malays that, in any sane mind's mind, is tantamount to inciting violence.

If Mahathir is so great a democrat, so freedom loving with his blogging and all the rest of his banalities, why did he pulp my questions when I signed up to his Che Det blog and posted them there on his management of the economy during his reign?

Beware the Najib regime and its mentor, Mahathir. There's a Chinese model slowly being incorporated into Malaysia. The Great Wall that is being used to persecute political dissidents in China also will be used to persecute Malaysian dissidents, especially the more desperate the regime becomes about grasping on to power.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME AFTER 52 YEARS

Against the backdrop of a desperate, dark war-cry was heard over the last few days. Screaming headlines from warnings to bloggers and netting of internet to U-turn decision from various leaders has the rakyat confused and bewildered. Its simply too much to swallow – Anti ISA, Teoh Beng Huat’s Inquest, Beer Issues, to simple thing like Parent Teachers Meeting has to see the Authority apologizing (Which is the right thing to do) for their overzealous action in containing groups of people who protest against English for Maths and Science.
These are symptoms of a nervous breakdown within the Authority.

Its evidence are inked in Headlines with favorites familiar tune of 3R’s,- Race, Religion, and Rights, what else. Even “Traitors” word are being uttered in a new world politics, Sigh… A couple of days ago, the PM and DPM couldn’t be more specific in letting go what is in their most desired frustrated hearts, “Yes, I want Selangor State Back!” and DPM “ PKR won’t last another Year! The most 2 or 3 Years!!

In case Muhyiddin and the rest of BN folks missed what the majority of rakyat has been educated recently, a video clip (below) will enlightened him as well as many more of lost souls of this nation, Pls pay attention and listen carefully to this well respected, educated person take you through.

His name is Tan Sri Abdullah Ahmad! Some pointers to remember….
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“And I tell you honestly, PKR is the nearest to a genuine multiracial party”

“ The Pakatan Rakyat SHOULD BE PRESERVE! .

To CONTINUE because a 2 party system has AT LAST EVOLED!! Dan itu

52 YEARS FOR A 2 PARTY SYSTEM TO ELVOLVED

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!

PLS CONTINUE TO BE ENLIGHTEN ABOUT THE TRUTH, THE OTHER SIDE OF MALAYSIA.

MACC ( Macam Ada Can Can )

PDRM instrument of their political masters

By Hussein Hamid

I will not refer to the Police as PDRM – it is an affront to our Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong to do so. There is nothing Royal about the Police.

PDRM is an instrument of the state. PDRM takes instructions from their political masters and what they do reflects the instructions given to them by their political masters who are the legitimate authority of our country (at least for the time being).

But I am getting ahead of myself here. Let us back up a bit.

Have you not seen a mata mata jump to attention when an Inspector comes into his peripheral vision? What about the Inspector jumping to attention when an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) casually walks by? Then you go past the Superintendent grade. When the mata-mata is privileged (and I use this term loosely…very very loosely!!) enough to come into the same rarified air as a Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police you will see him stand rooted to the spot standing at attention…not daring to breath, eyes front and just wishing that the earth would swallow him for having the nerve to be born on the same planet as the SAC in front of him….get my drift?

Were the mata mata baton hitting the demonstrators for personal gain? No. Were they doing it out of hatred or in defense? No. These mata mata had nothing against the demonstrators. It was a case of obedience to the orders given to them. They could not be faulted because they were simply following orders.

If he is instructed to contain a situation he will do so – if that involves tear gas, baton hitting a demonstrator – anything – he will do so because that action of his has been cleared by his superiors in the briefing before the act. The average mata mata simply do not have the capacity or ability to think further then the length of his nose and certainly incapable of promoting good governance by doing the right thing for the demonstrators who are simply exercising their democratic right to show that they do not agree with the ISA.

Now why would the Police allow themselves to be use as instruments of the state? Are they not drawn from the same stock – cultural and racial – as those that they have been asked to subjugate? At the least would that not make them unreliable instruments of state with the probability of them turning against the very people that is attempting to use them?

The answer is simple. Quid proco. For doing the bidding of their political masters against their masters domestic enemies their Political masters will turn a blind eye to what the Chairman of the Royal Commission to Enhance the Operation and Management of the Royal Malaysian Police describe as “ rampant corruption in the force’s traffic, commercial crimes, narcotics and internal investigation divisions” and “excessive use of force used against detainees” resulting in a number of deaths in police custody (an understatement to say the least!!). He also said that the commission inquiry into the Malaysian police has been inundated with allegations of corruption and brutality.

When all is said and done this has manifested itself in the failure to establish critical aspect of the commission’s recommendations: “An Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) aimed at dealing with complaints regarding the police and seeking to improve the professionalism of the force and to ensure that doctrines, laws, rules and procedures are observed and implemented by the police”.

The powers that be condones and turn a blind eye to the massive corruption that pervades all levels of the Police and in return the Police will rid the country of all organized opposition to the Government. Political opponents are held without trial and under conditions of cruelty – even death. You need only see what had happened to Anwar Ibrahim – a Deputy Prime Minister while under Police Custody and the perpetrator of that crime against Anway was the IGP himself. I shudder to think what could happen to others below the level of a Deputy Prime Minister.

DO "BIAS OR UNBIAS" DECISION FALL UNDER KPI OR KRA?

That is the question. Now that these two "Bencmark" has been launched, we wonder if PM's remarks on MACC "basic job" should fall under KPI or KRA, What do you all think? Anyway, to equate the one legitimate findings of this Umno corruption to the numerous non-legitimate process of handling other cases surely has nothing to do with "bias".

If there is basis of any real evidence from a 'real' reliable source, no one should compliant, isn't it?
The problem is the manner in which these selected targets were made and execute is the real issue. Who is the one that made the allegation? Are they reliable? Under whose instruction were these people are acting upon? Its a simple question..... Everyone knows, just pretend only...

STADIUM? FOR WHAT?

Pls click on pic to read.

Police disclosure on chemical agents used in their water cannons?

What is the margin of safety between incapacitating dose vis a vis lethal dose for the various chemical agents used as crowd control devices or as close quarter personal incapacitant sprays?

The types of chemical agents used in water cannon in law enforcement worldwide include the following:

a) CS (o-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile) - is a white crystalline solid, believed to be more effective and safer than

b) CN (chloroacetophenone), which is believed to have a greater toxicity than CS, although it is not as potent and would therefore require larger amounts to be used to achieve the same effects. In consequence, the margin of safety between incapacitating dose and lethal dose for CN is much less than that for CS.

c) Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) is the oily extract (oleoresin) of the species Capsicum (peppers) and is a complex mixture of over one hundred volatile compounds. The active ingredients of OC, i.e. those components which cause the burning sensation and pain, are called capsaicinoids, the main one of which is called capsaicin. Capsaicin, and some other capsaicinoids, are used as topical treatments for painful conditions, as they selectively affect a part of the nervous system involved with pain sensations, resulting in the production of pain, with subsequent desensitisation to pain. The proportion of each of the capsaicinoids, and the total capsaicinoid content, of OC sprays varies between different manufacturers and between batches, as the composition differs, based on species of capsicum, time harvested and portion of the plant used. Although there has been much toxicological testing carried out on capsaicin over the years, this is not so for OC as a whole or for many of the other capsaicinoids. Hence, the lack of toxicological information on OC.

d) PAVA (pelargonic acid vanillylamide), also commonly known as nonivamide, is a capsaicinoid which occurs naturally in OC and which is less pungent than capsaicin, although it is believed to work in the same way. In recent years, it has become available for use as an incapacitant spray and is produced synthetically for this purpose. PAVA is believed to have the following potential advantages over OC: it is a single compound, and therefore it would be easier to obtain all of the toxicological information necessary than would be the case for OC; also, as it is a single compound which is produced synthetically, it is of reproducible quality and pungency and not subject to the variations in strength and effectiveness which occur with OC products. At present, PAVA has gone through a number of toxicological tests, although as yet, not enough information is available to be able to recommend the use of PAVA in an incapacitant spray or other method of dissemination.

e) CR (Dibenz (b.f.)-1:4-oxazepine), does not break down in water which would lead to problems with decontamination after use.

During the recent Mansuh ISA rally last Saturday (1/8/2009) the police FRUs had excessively used the water cannon against people who were present for a peaceful rally to submit a memorandum to the King. In the course of their spraying, unsuspecting members of the public including children were not spared.
Are the enforcement personnel over-zealous in discharging their duties or are they trying out the chemical agents on protestors as an opportunity to test the effectiveness of the chemical agents?

It would be in the best interest of the public that the police department disclose what kind of chemical agents are being used and any long-term effects from
exposure to such chemicals. There should be a public disclosure as to the dosage levels in the use of such chemical agents not exceeding the permitted limits.

This matter should be brought to Parliament's attention by Opposition MPs/ADUNS.

A TRIBUTE AND SALUTE TO UNIT AMAL

Who are these heroic, braved, civil minded, discipline, and a great Leadership Servanthood? Yes, The Unit Amal are there to served, to serve the Rakyat and Right Minded political parties. Look at the picture below, look at their faces,...

Who are they? Pls note.. they are the Fathers, Uncles, Nephews, Brothers, Neighbours, Friends, and In laws, a far cry from the so called FRU and police and SB, out of law.

What do you think they are doing? Couple of things.
1) To direct groups of hundreds or maybe thousands of "like&right" folks for a noble cause.
2) To ensure they do not go beyond what's out of bound eg. disturbing peace of others.
3) To lead with discipline and more....

Yes, People, The Unit Amal also accompany those that are arrested in police station without any reasons and causing undue inconvenience to many other economic contributing rakyat. Last night at 11.30pm at Police station Bukit Jalil where Sivarasa was locked up, shortly after about a hundred candle vigillers left, these Unit Amal folks were there to clean up the place. They ensured that the compound are cleared before they call it a night.

One of our partner can't help but mentioned "where and who do think fund the drinks?' I would not hesitate for one moment to donate if being asked. The rest of the rakyat needs to be mindful that unlike our "Sinfuly"rich Government, the opposition has to get funds too. Pls understand this, so next time, never hold tight to your wallet when it comes to donating for the opposition.

Having been around with these Unit Amal for quite a while, those who have walk the mile with them will attest - "We feel safe, much safer with Unit Amal" simply they truly protect the rakyat on the street - away from the real hooligans, thieves, trouble makers, pirates, and the many more names you can call them.. In short - shameful "Authority".

We can depend on Unit Amal - Anytime and Anywhere Not our police..period!!
, So next time, when you meet any of these Unit Amal folks, Let them know - You appreciate and respect thier work and more importantly, as a true Bangsa Rakyat Malaysia, ok?

So on behave of the rakyat in this nation
WE SALUTE YOU Unit Amal.

"Hidup Unit Amal!", "Hidup Unit Amal!", "Hidup Unit Amal!".

Perkara 5 - Kebebasan diri.
Perkara 9 - Larangan buangan-negeri, dan kebebasan bergerak.
Perkara 10 - Kebebasan bercakap, berhimpun dan menubuhkan persatuan.

Himpunan Mansuh ISA, Masjid Negara 2 of 8.

Menganggu ketenteraman awam? Bukankah mereka yang mencetuskan huru hara? Persoalan-nya banyak, jawapan-nya tadak?

Himpunan Mansuh ISA, Masjid Negara 3 of 8.

Himpunan Mansuh ISA, Masjid Negara 4 of 8.

Tempat: Belakang Royal Selangor Club (Jalan Raja).

Wah, wah wah berani sungguh rakyat kito. I salute lah kat kamu semua.

Aduh, cabut lali lah, apa tunggu lagi. Saksikan babak seterusnya dalam bahagian 5 of 8.

If It Is Not The Show Of Might, Then What Is It?

To friends, we usually say let bygones be bygones over trivial matter. To be able to live and let live is exemplary that portrays one’s sincerity to be able to walk a mile in the person’s shoes. However, to forgive and forget is not easy because people can forgive but they cannot forget what injustice had befallen upon them.

video

This is what it meant when the disregards for people’s right is ignored. People were drenched with chemical-laced water and tear gas to make them cry, not out of fear but of anger.

video

See for yourself when the crowd was dispersing, the intimidation crawled in and water canons shot at will. This was obvious at Jalan Raja Laut after the congregation to announce the end of the protest at PAS headquarters.

video

video

video

video

video

LRT station at Masjid Jamek was closed and the people were waiting for the green light to board it. The police took it as the people were regrouping. Pathetic!

Common sense could not get into their heads. The people were not foolish to regroup at that vicinity but wanting to go home. Other commuters who were not involved in the protest were grossly inconvenienced.

video

The FRU wanted to make their presences felt thus don’t blame the people when they were intimidated. If this was not a blatant show of might, then tell me what is it?

Judge for yourself if you will, whether I am unfair or have erred in my judgement. The video clips were taken with a degree of risk to get shot at by the water canon, let alone the corrosive chemical that could damage the video camera.

Why the risk then? Simple. To tell the truth!

Until the next thrills and spills, we will be back to coordinate the next live coverage. Take care and God bless!

Come What May, The People Are Ready For Another March.

It is high hope for ISA to be abolished and fat hope that the government will listen to the people. This draconian law will be here to stay as a tool for suppression until a new government is finally formed.

video

The people are aware from the events that had taken place. Deaths in custody, selective arrests, corruptions and the abuse of power all in a single package are too much to swallow.

video

video

Today, the people are not easily cowed even with the threat of police arrest. The more arrests made, the angrier the people will become. The people’s anger had surpassed the limit and let the domino theory begins.

More to come ...

The Immediate Remedy Will Keep You Moving On.

video

When the inevitable happens and you are caught in the midst of tear gas or the remnants have found you, take a few grains of salt instead of drinking water. This will prevent your throat from becoming parched. This will not make you cough incessantly or affecting your breathing.

video

When your eyes are overwhelmed with the burning sensation from the effect of the tear gas, get anyone to blow cigarette smoke slowly onto your face. Walla!

video

The most heartfelt sight was how one could help another irrespective of who you are. At that moment, it was truly compassion at work to see how all could become ONE walking down the same road with the same objective. And most of all, people are helping one another through, in the critical time of need.

video

The weather was kind, cloudy as the sun shied away to show his support too. The motorists honked in approval but not the police who are waiting to pounce like hungry hyenas.

More to come ...

Is Common Sense Not So Common Anymore?

Everything deals with simple common sense.

video

The police are not the enemy of the people and vice-versa. By allowing the people the avenue to vent their dissatisfaction does not hurt even a fly. By giving them the protection is noble instead of shooting them with chemical laced water and tear gas.

video

Believe it or not, even the crowd could gather up to 100,000 strong; the walk to the palace could be over in less than an hour from Dataran Merdeka. Instead, the whole city was in a lock down a day before. What kind of mentality the Minister of Home Affairs has is beyond comprehension!

video

Where are those from the Pro-ISA? A few could be seen but disappeared in the thin air as fast as they came.

Protestors had graduated from each protest and they could appear from nowhere – from any nook and cranny and making the crowd swell in frightening numbers.

Man, woman and child took pride today in the protest to abolish ISA. Syabas and good Malaysians salute each and everyone of you, while the bad Malaysians want to challenge you and the ugly Malaysians want to teach you a lesson! Bring it then!

More to come ...

This Is Where It All Begins

Without PAS, today’s protest will be topsy-turvy.

video

Are the people so angry that they take to the street? Yes is the answer.

They are here to respond to the call to translate what they had asked for into action. Abolish ISA.

video

Why can’t the people wait for the government to make the announcement regarding the abolishment of ISA? The people don’t believe that it will happen.

Why fear ISA if no one has done any wrong? It is not the fear but the abuse that people detest!

video

PAS has the ability to coordinate such protest by mobilizing its people to send the message loud and clear to the government of the day. If the government is still adamant to its spoilt way of running the country, then more to come when people take to the street again and again.

The people want a new government but not the prime minister who is not the choice of Malaysians. It is the UMNO’s system that allows a few to elect not only a prime minister but ministers irrespective whether they have the quintessence or not. It is a sham!

The present government cannot change let alone listening to the people. So, it is time that the government has to be changed by the people. And this is possible and coming soon.

More to come ...

The Calm Before The Storm

Sporadic arrests had begun!
